Practising Ethnographic Research Methods

Please note: this is archived course information from 2017 for ANTHRO 753.

Description

Taught in seminar style. Students actively engage through reading and discussion of a wide range of materials. They begin to learn how to conceptualise ethnographic research issues within theoretical contexts, and practise skills through class tutorials on a variety of relevant techniques for data gathering or analysis. They are also introduced to ethical issues arising from the process of research. They carry out their own small research project and are encouraged to reflect upon what went right and wrong.
