Description

China is now a major influence on the lives of all of us everywhere in the world. The course will extend the coverage of China presented in ASIAN 100, though students who have not completed that course are able to do CHINESE 130 with no background. Modules on topics such as Chinese philosophy, history, modern literature, overseas Chinese and films introduce the diversity of the Chinese experience. Students of Chinese language use ths course to start rounding out their study of Chinese language, but this survey course is a good choice for any student with an interest in China. No Chinese language knowledge is required. The class essay and weekly tutorials are opportunities for students to explore their own interests in China.
