Television Journalism

Description

A practical course introducing students to the production of current affairs journalism. Students learn to write, video, present and edit short news items in the field and integrate these into a multi-camera production recorded as live in the television studio. Studio skills include directing, production management, multi-cam scripting, vision switching, presenting and interviewing within a framework of current industry practice.

Class limits information for 2016: Enrolment is limited to 24 students. On-time applications will be selected on the following criteria, ranked in order of importance: 1) Completion of FTVMS 100 and 101; 2) The qualitative evaluation of the application including brief critique of a nominated television interview; 3) GPA; 4) Evidence of previous industry/production experience; 5) The qualitative evaluation of examples of creative work or evidence of leadership/performance experience; 6) The qualitative evaluation of a personal statement of intent.
