Please note: this is archived course information from 2014 for PHIL 726.

Description

Perhaps the most important development in moral philosophy in recent years has been the rediscovery of emotion. This renewed interest has both influenced and been influenced by the rediscovery of virtue, with several of the key contributors to one revival also championing the other. (Annette Baier, Michael Brady, Martha Nussbaum, Justin Oakley, Robert Roberts, Nancy Sherman, Michael Stocker, Charles Taylor, Gabrielle Taylor, David Wiggins, Bernard Williams and Linda Zagzebski are just a few of the many examples.) We shall look at the latest work in this burgeoning field.
