Description

There may be limits to what we can think about. But, the minutes we think about the things we cannot think about, surely we are thinking about them. This seems like a contradiction. In Beyond the Limits of Thought, Graham Priest argues that the history of philosophy, both East and West, is riddled with such contradictions. In this course, we examine Priest's analysis of certain contradictions he finds in the history of philosophy. Philosophers to be examined include some or all of Plato, Aristotle, Sextus Empiricus, Berkeley, Kant, Hegel, Frege, Quine, Davidson, Derrida, Heidegger and Nāgārjuna.
