Introduction

The New Zealand Institute of International Affairs (NZIIA) is an independent, nationwide, non-profit making organisation. The Institute has no opinion on any policy issue, and does not support or condemn any viewpoint. Its purpose is to throw more light on the issues, to stimulate a range of views and to encourage informed opinions among its members and the community at large.

The Auckland Branch is based in the Department of Political Studies at the University of Auckland. It has members in all walks of life. The Branch holds its meetings about once a month on average. It also co-organises workshops and conferences with other institutions from time to time. These meetings, workshops and conferences give members the chance to meet prominent scholars and decision-makers from across the world. The Branch also distributes a newsletter, the "Diplomatic Forum".
