Description
This course aims to develop an understanding of how languages are learned and how language learning theories can inform language instruction. By the end of this course students will
- Have a general view of the factors that affect second language learning, both inside classrooms and in instructed contexts beyond the classroom such as study abroad
- Be able to explain basic language learning theories and models
- Be able to relate learning to social and ethical issues, such as learner identity
- Be able to apply what they have learned to evaluate, analyse and critique language instruction practices
