Description

Researching communication can be fun! Whether you are interested in generating new knowledge about popular communication phenomena or exploring possible solutions to communication problems, knowing which method to use and how to use it systematically and rigorously is crucial. To this end, this course provides you with a broad introduction to methodological foundations and tools to study communication and guides you through the research process, step by step. You will be introduced to qualitative and quantitative methods, an array of techniques for data collection (such as interview, survey, participant observation, etc.), and different forms of data analysis.

Through this course, students will learn about major research paradigms in communication studies and develop a deeper understanding about the logic of reasoning and ways of knowing in qualitative and quantitative research. Students will also learn how to develop a research proposal and gain skills in crafting research questions, conducting interviews, and developing coding techniques, and conducting systematic
