Contemporary Poetry

Please note: this is archived course information from 2019 for ENGLISH 323.

Description

For upper-level undergraduates who want to study some of the last 40 years of experiments in English-language poetries. Course pack readings will be supplemented with investigations of web sites and journals. We’ll discuss relevant cultural themes (literary, political, linguistic, aesthetic, social) and we will learn, and practice what we’re learning, about poetic representation, images, rhythms, diction, shapes, soundings, digitality, and performance.

This is a critical skills class as well as an opportunity to learn about new writings.
