ENGLISH 702

Postcolonial Literary Studies

Please note: this is archived course information from 2017 for ENGLISH 702.

Description

A critical investigation of postcolonial literary studies as a field of academic inquiry and cultural critique. We read essays by influential theorists, including theoretical essays by contemporary poets and novelists, but concentrate on the study of literary texts produced in the social, political and cultural circumstances that are largely identified as postcolonial, an admittedly problematic term.
