French Translation Practice

Description

This course is designed for students wishing to develop practical translation skills and provides an introduction to professional translation.

All classes will have a hands-on, practical focus. The course will provide an introduction to translation as a process and a product. Text types may include journalistic, literary, academic, administrative, technical and consumer-oriented texts.

By the end of this course, students will have gained the skills needed to accurately translate a variety of text types from French into English, for a variety of target audiences. Students will also learn how to tackle sentence-level translation from English into French, including a focus on contrastive analysis.
