Description

The course focuses on significant Hong Kong films since the mid-Twentieth Century. Through an examination of some major genres of Hong Kong cinema, the course explores issues of visual style, narrative, representation and the various contexts of production through a wide range of case studies including Kung Fu Hustle (2004), A Better Tomorrow (1986), A Chinese Ghost Story (1987), Chungking Express (1994) and Infernal Affairs (2002).
