Description

This course explores the ways in which popular culture and politics are linked. It works from the assumption that popular culture "matters" and it explores the ways in which it matters politically. Topics include politicians befriending film stars, presidents who are film stars, rock performers who act as politicians, states that censor popular culture and those that sponsor it and use it as propaganda.
