German Language Introductory 1

Description

Written and oral use of German for students who have no previous knowledge of the language or who have fewer than 16 credits in Level 2 NCEA German. The approach is communicative, with German used wherever possible as the language of instruction. The course aims to provide you with a sound basic knowledge of spoken and written German. Prepares students for the Goethe Institute’s Start Deutsch certificate, which is at proficiency level A1.

With successful completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases
  • Introduce yourself and others and ask and answer questions about personal details such as where you live, people you know and things you have
  • Interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help
