Description
This semester-long course is the start of the journey to mastering the ancient Greek language. In GREEK 100 you will learn fundamental building blocks of the language, along with key vocabulary. You will also read stories written in Greek at a level appropriate for beginners. These deal with aspects of Greek history and culture, helping you learn more about the people who spoke and wrote ancient Greek.
GREEK 100 is the first of a three-semester sequence (GREEK 100, 101 and 200) designed to bring you to the point of being able to read ancient Greek authors competently in the original language. From there, you can take advanced courses where you read and study ancient Greek literature and texts.
You can major or minor in Greek, or take individual Greek courses as part of an Ancient History or Classical Studies major or minor.
