ITALIAN 700

Language Acquisition: Oral and Written Use of Italian

Please note: this is archived course information from 2018 for ITALIAN 700.

Description

This advanced language course aims to reinforce and fine-tune the language skills and strategies acquired in beginning and intermediate courses to situations requiring more complex listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Students will be exposed to spoken Italian from a variety of media and in a number of different registers, and will learn to express themselves in more sophisticated speaking situations. They will also develop reading strategies that will prepare them to approach academic and specialised texts. Students will be asked to write compositions (related to readings and work on oral skills) with more complex ideas. The course also aims to help students expand their vocabulary and to make them aware of nuances and changes in language and of the links between language and culture. All classes are held in Italian.

To complete this course students must enrol in ITALIAN 700 A and B, or ITALIAN 700.
