Language Change

Description

A course on historical language change and language relationships. The course examines reasons for and types of language change, and methods (comparative method, internal reconstruction) for reconstructing earlier language forms.

This will be an option for linguistics students who wish to either focus on diachronic linguistics, or who wish to inform synchronic research with a diachronic perspective.
