Description

Examines traditional and contemporary Māori performing arts and covers all aspects of Māori performance including whakaeke (entry), waiata mōteatea, waiata-a-ringa (action song), poi, haka, whakawātea (exit). There is a strong practical element to the course as well as an analysis of social, cultural and political contexts of the songs and performance.
