Description

This course is about the application of logic to problems in philosophy. 

In previous years, we have focused on formal epistemology, including such problems as Fitch's paradox of knowability, the surprise examination paradox, the Gettier problem, backwards induction, truth approximation and scientific progress, paradoxes of time travel, decision problems such as that of Sleeping Beauty and Judy Benjamin, information cascades and the relationship between social structure and group knowledge.

Although the course has no formal prerequisite, it is a natural extension of PHIL 315.
