Description

This is an advanced introductory course to the subject area of international political economy. It is not a course on international economics and students are not expected to have any background in the study of economics. The focus of this course is on the politics of global economic integration in the international system. It examines the causes and consequences of this process and how far it is likely to go in the future. It considers the extent to which international economic interdependence is the problem or the solution to the major world threats of our time. Finally, it evaluates the proposition that global economic integration diminishes the usefulness of states in economic governance.
