Economic Statecraft: Power, Politics and Resources

Description

This course analyses how governments, particularly the United States, New Zealand and selected European and Asian states, decide upon and conduct their international economic policies. Topics are adapted to current events and will include bilateral and multilateral trade negotiations and disputes, national trade remedies and economic sanctions, intergovernmental controversies surrounding aid, investment, tourism and intellectual property and unilateral and multilateral reactions to financial crises, resource scarcity and natural and man-made environmental disasters.
