Description

Examines ongoing trends, causes and problems in the spread of democracy worldwide. Topics covered include the economic and social preconditions for democratisation, actor-based models of regime transition, institution-building in new and weak democracies, the role of the international community in promoting democracy and the rise of competitive authoritarian and hybrid regimes.
