Description
Applied research plays a vital role in framing social problems, informing policy solutions and evaluating the success (or failure) of policy initiatives. This course provides a practical introduction to mixed method research design and the evaluation of social policy and practice.
The course aims to equip students with a critical understanding of policy processes and apparatus and to develop skills and that can be utilised in both industry and higher academic contexts. While lectures present theoretical knowledge about the mechanics of policy and research practice, tutorial workshops will provide a mix of research case studies and activities that support students in engaging with various applied techniques.
