Spanish Translation Practice

Description

This course focuses on Spanish language acquisition through full translations in and out of Spanish, topic-based research and summary and selective translations.

Lessons are interactive, with opportunities for practice in pairs, small groups or the whole class. Attendance at all lectures is strongly recommended in order to benefit from interactive activities designed to heighten language awareness, develop translation skills and ensure steady progress.

Aims of course:

The overall intended learning objectives are to consolidate students' knowledge of the Spanish language and to develop translator competence within general, cultural and technical knowledge domains.

Specific translation skills include:

  • Understanding the different phases in the translation process
  • Documentary research skills
  • Editing and proof-reading skills
