Advanced Interpreting Practice - Japanese

Description

This course provides in-depth and systematic training in the field of community or public-service interpreting. We will focus on general interpreting skills, including memory training, note-taking and public speaking for interpreters working in legal, medical, business and other social settings.

This very practice-oriented course will be based on dialogues and short discourse passages on related topics. We will use bidirectional interpreting in both liaison and consecutive interpreting modes. Course contents will be aimed at improving interpreting efficiency, information processing capacities and problem-solving strategies. Students will also be introduced to the professional and ethical duties of community interpreters.

This course is only available to students enrolled in a Masters degree in translation, a Master of Professional Studies, Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Interpreting or a Certificate of Proficiency.
