Computer-aided Translation (CAT) Tools

Description
This course introduces students to a wide range of computer skills for professional translators, covering a number of translation-related IT topics from file management to information research to CAT (computer-assisted translation) tools. Participants will learn how to set up an efficient professional IT environment and how to use software solutions to improve both the quality and the productivity of their work. Special emphasis will be placed on hands-on experience in the use of market-leading terminology management and translation memory systems.
Overall, this course aims at introducing participants to modern electronic translation environments and providing practical advice on how translation tools can best be integrated into the translation process. Working with different CAT systems will provide students with useful insight to assess such systems and the way they affect the translation process.
