Pan troglodytes

Homo sapiens

The innominate from H.sapiens is different from chimps because it is adapted to bipedal walking in several ways:
- The hip sockets are wider to match the greater weight they transmit.
- The pelvis is shorter, which aids balance.
- The ilium (blade) is broad, improving leverage for the muscles that keep the body straight.
- It is more curved, which helps the muscles that keep the body stable and in an upright position.
- It is bowl shaped, which supports the internal organs.
