The School of Asian Studies has three student mentors who are multi-lingual and they have been running highly successful ‘drop in’ study sessions for our Stage I students. They are also available for one-to-one consultations. Send them an email and they will make the arrangements.

Student Learning Centre
The Student Learning Centre (SLC) provides a range of support and instruction through programmes and workshops related to difficulties you might encounter while studying. Below are some of the useful programmes provided.
- Writing (essays, reports, style etc.)
- Reading and note-taking
- Time and self-management
- Memory and concentration
- Test and examination skills
- Oral presentation skills
- Language learning
- Tutorial skills
- Motivation and goal setting
- Survival skills
If English is not your first language, the SLC also offers English conversation hours, as well as the language exchange programme for you to exchange your mother tongue with another language of your selection.

English Language Self Access Centre (ELSAC)
The English Language Self Access Centre provides English assistance for students of Non-English speaking backgrounds who have difficulty with their English.
Opening Hours: Open 7 days per week during semesters. Monday to Friday 9am-7pm and Saturday to Sunday 12pm to 4pm

Life skills workshops in iSPACE
Suitable for international students or migrant students.
The University Careers Centre is committed to helping students develop their life skills on and off campus and they have a series of practical and useful workshops aimed at preparing students for life after University! Come and learn some skills which your textbooks don't teach you and are specific for Asian students. Lots of practical and relevant tips and techniques related to job search and careers, public speaking, professional etiquette, and life-changing experiences.
Tea and coffee will be provided during these sessions so come up to iSPACE during the times listed below…

Student Health Centre
The University Health Centre provides medical consultations for students enrolled at the University of Auckland. The service is free of charge if you have a community service card. You can also obtain an application form for a community service card at the centre. However, it still only costs you $15 per visit without the card. (Bookings are only available for the day.)
Opening Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am – 6.30pm and Friday 8am – 5pm.
