Franca Rama
Prolific playwrights, theatre managers, actors, directors and spouses Dario Fo and Franca Rama are renown in Italy and internationally for their satirical plays which combine elements of traditional Commedia dell'arte, puppetry and clowning with controversial, biting, social commentary and which range from the comic to the tragically grim. Dario Fo was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1997.
