Mohi Ruatapu

Mohi Ruatapu was a Ngati Porou tohunga who, during the 1870s, compiled a written record of the previously oral songs, myths and legends of his people. This collection is regarded as the most important assembled by a Maori writer in the nineteenth century. It has recently been translated and annotated in Nga Korero a Mohi Ruatapu by Anaru Reedy (1993).
