Tutorials provide you with opportunities to ask questions, to venture opinions, and to formulate, discuss, and debate ideas. They are a fundamental component of the course, but they are not a ‘third lecture.’ As university students you are expected to demonstrate curiosity, and attempt independent thinking based upon ideas presented in lectures and in set readings (as well as other film related issues you may be interested in).
Please note that tutorials are a place for everyone to express their ideas in a collegial and respectful environment. Tutorials also function as a space where you get vital information about assignments and important feedback that enables you improve your performance.
You are required to attend one tutorial per week (from week 2 on). If you are enrolled for this paper you will also have enrolled for a tutorial through nDeva. If you are uncertain about which tutorial you have enrolled in, please check nDeva.
Changes to tutorial times will only be made for very compelling reasons, such as a class clash (proof will be required). It is not normally possible to accommodate hobbies, part time work, or other personal matters. Nevertheless, if you do need to change your tutorial we will try to accommodate your needs.
EQUITY Tutorials
Three extra EEO tutorials are provided each week: two for EAL students (those for whom English is not their first language) and one for Maaori and Pasifika students. Details will be provided at the first lecture. Brenda Allen will keep the lists for these tutorials, so contact her if you would like to attend.
Note: Students who choose to attend an EAL tutorial must also attend a mainstream tutorial. Those who choose to attend the Maaori and Pasifika tutorial may also belong to a mainstream tutorial if they wish.
EAL Tutorials: Wednesday 11.00 and 12.00 (Tutor: Brenda Allen)Maaori & Pasifika: Fridays 1.00 (Tutor: Jan Sinclair)
