- using the web
Written assignments must be handed in (hard copy) to the department by 4.00 PM, and submitted electronically to turnitin.com by 5.00 pm on the due date. Essays not on turnitin will not gain any mark.
The final course grade will either be withheld or the marks for internal assessment deducted if essays have not been submitted through turnitin.com as required.
NB. There is no plussage on this paper.
Deadlines for coursework are non-negotiable.
Late assignments
If you are ill (we require a doctor’s certificate) you may seek an extension. Extensions must be personally negotiated with your tutor at least two days before the assignment is due and recorded on the extension sheet. Extensions must be registered with your tutor and an extension form attached to the outside of your essay, otherwise the essay is treated as overdue. All late assignments will be penalised one mark per day (this includes each day of the weekend. The FTVMS office is not open Saturday or Sunday and therefore all assignments handed in over the weekend are not processed until Monday morning).
Very Late Assignments
An essay that is handed in after the marked essays have been given back and before the final cut off date, Friday 22 October, 5pm (end of lectures) will not be marked but will be placed in the exam folder and may be used for consideration regarding final marks. It is better to hand in a late essay than no essay at all.
Aegrotats
Information regarding the granting of aegrotat pass or compassionate consideration of grades is contained in the University Calendar under ‘Examination Regulations.’Students who do not submit and pass both pieces of written assessment and do not sit the exam are very unlikely to gain an aegrotat.
