·To demonstrate your ability to write in concise, well structured English prose.

USEFUL TIPS
· You will need many viewings of the extracts so make sure you plan your time well to incorporate the viewing time required in the AV Library.
· Make sure you answer all sections of the assignment.
· Do not do a great deal more in some sections than the assignment requires ie. Don’t write 800 words on historical detail about the making of the film or the historical period in which it is set before starting to answer the question.
· When evaluating early film be mindful of the social/cultural attitudes that were current at the time of their production, rather than judging them solely on the attitudes or beliefs we may hold on certain issues today.
