Write a 500-600 word summary of the article (available from your tutor): “A Pacific Perspective on Physical Punishment”, by Tino Pereira.
In-text citation and a 1 item bibliography are necessary for this assignment.
You may use APA or MLA style.
Note: The article “A Pacific Perspective on Physical Punishment” is written by Tino Pereira, and is taken from Childrenz Issues, Volume 8, No 2, 2004. Childrenz Issues is published by the Children’s Issues Centre, University of Otago.

All drafts, including a completed Student Reader Report, are attached. ENGWRIT101 Assignment 2: Student Reader Report 1. What do you like most about this summary? 3. Does the writer present the main idea(s) of the original early in the summary? Important for an effective summary. Has the writer included an overview of the whole article? 4. Can any material be cut (quotations, examples, wordiness, repetition)? Underline it lightly and write “cut?” in the margin. Have any ideas been included, which were not in the original? 5. Is anything important missing? 6. Has the writer paraphrased sufficiently? Is the language sufficiently different from the original? Are there any unacknowledged quotations? (plagiarism) Underline any phrases that are too similar. 8. Are the in-text referencing and end of text bibliography done correctly? Underline errors with a pencil. Check bibliography content and page layout. 9. Are there any proofreading errors? 10. Is it the right length? It must be more than 500 words, less then 600 words.
Assignment 2 distributed: August 10
Submit at Level 8, Fisher Bldg, Waterloo Quadrant. Include cover sheet, first draft, completed Student Reader Report, and final draft, labelled as such. A word count must be given.
Assessment Guidelines
1. Summary is within word limits, covers all main points, is objective, and faithful to the intentions of the original.
2. There is no plagiarism, and the source is correctly acknowledged with in-text citation and a bibliography.
3. The summary is well written, maintaining the interest of the original.
4. Sentences, spelling and punctuation are correct.
6. The summary is presented on time.
